Houston Declares July 7th as Davido Day, as a Recognition of his Achievements

In a remarkable tribute, the City of Houston honors Nigerian megastar Davido by declaring July 7th as Davido Day. With a career spanning over a decade, Davido has elevated Afrobeats to global audiences, earning numerous accolades along the way.

Currently on the American leg of his Timeless Tour, Davido sold out the 21,000 capacity Toyota Arena in Houston, Texas. It was during this concert, held on July 7th, 2023, that Edward Pollard, a member of the Houston City Council, made the proclamation, officially establishing Davido Day in Houston.

The declaration, announced on behalf of Mayor Sylvester Turner, recognizes Davido’s immense impact as a superstar and his contributions to the music industry through his chart-topping hits. Davido’s fourth studio album, ‘Timeless,’ released on March 31, 2023, broke first-week African records on major streaming platforms. The album features hit songs like ‘Unavailable,’ a collaboration with South African artist Musa Keys, which has garnered international success and solidified its position as one of the top Afrobeats tracks of 2023.

Houston’s tribute to Davido is a testament to his remarkable achievements and his significant role in shaping the global music landscape. Davido Day celebrates his exceptional talent and the cultural bridge he has built through his music.
