Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ receives 4X RIAA platinum in the United States

Multiple award-winning singer, Wizkid continues to soar to new heights in his musical career as his hit song Essence featuring Tems achieves yet another milestone, receiving a 4X RIAA platinum plaque for surpassing four million units in sales in the United States.
This was revealed in reports posted online on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
The song, featured on Wizkid’s fourth album Made In Lagos, has enjoyed immense international success, solidifying its position as one of Afrobeats’ most prominent exported tracks.

Since its debut in 2020, Essence has garnered widespread commercial acclaim, particularly in the United States, where it reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, propelled by a remix featuring Justin Bieber. The song’s popularity soared further when it was hailed as the “greatest song in the history of music” by influential rapper, Kanye West.
At the 2021 BET Awards, Essence clinched the Collaboration of the Year award and received a nomination for Best Global Song Performance at the 64th Grammys, showcasing its impact on the global music scene.
